Setup

Type your keys here, not with a controller

Fill in the services you use, set a password, then bring everything to Clamshell with a short code or a file. Every section is optional.

Your keys are encrypted in this browser with your password. Nothing you type leaves this page unencrypted, and nothing is saved in the browser. "Send to my device" stores only the encrypted file on Clamshell's server, for 15 minutes, and deletes it as soon as your device picks it up.

SteamGridDB

Covers, logos and backgrounds made by the community.

  1. Sign in at steamgriddb.com.
  2. Open Preferences › API and generate a key.

ScreenScraper

Box art, screenshots and videos for most retro systems. Uses your ScreenScraper account.

  1. Make a free account at screenscraper.fr, if you don't have one.

IGDB

Descriptions, release dates and genres. IGDB uses a Twitch developer app.

  1. Open the Twitch developer console (Twitch asks you to turn on two-factor sign-in first).
  2. Register an application: any name, OAuth redirect http://localhost, category "Application Integration", client type "Confidential".
  3. Open it, copy the Client ID, then press "New Secret" and copy the secret.

RomM

Your own RomM server. Clamshell uses an API token, which you can revoke in RomM at any time, instead of your password.

  1. In RomM's web page, open your account's API tokens and create one with these scopes: me.read, platforms.read, roms.read, assets.read, collections.read.
  2. Copy the token (it starts with rmm_). RomM shows it only once.
  3. For the address, use the one your handheld reaches RomM at, for example http://192.168.1.20:8080.

This page can't test the token: browsers won't let a website reach a server on your home network. Clamshell tests it when you import.

If you reach RomM from anywhere too, for example through a Cloudflare Tunnel, enter that address. Clamshell uses it whenever the home address doesn't answer, and goes back home when it does. The same token works for both. If the tunnel sits behind Cloudflare Access, let /api/* and /assets/* through without a login (RomM's token protects them), or Clamshell can't get in.

Password

Clamshell asks for it when you import. At least 10 characters; three random words work well. It isn't stored anywhere, so there's no way to recover it.

Your code

In Clamshell, open Settings › Library › Scraper › Accounts and keys › Import from computer (during setup, it's under "Game info and ratings"), enter this code, then your password. It works once and expires in 15:00.

File saved

Copy to your handheld, into Download or Clamshell's data folder, then choose "Import from computer" in Clamshell. Keep the file to set up your next device; it's useless without the password.
